Your Mission

Protecting Bitpanda and our customers by driving one of the more important core backend systems; our Operations Hub. Ops Hub has two teams of 8 people, Team One for building all Risk and Compliance Tech, and Team Two for building our customer management panel. Both teams ensure that Bitpanda stays technically compliant, and we're able to stop any activities that would potentially harm our users. As a Senior Software Engineer at here, you will be responsible for writing, reviewing and maintaining clean and scalable code over all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; along side mentoring and coaching others around you. 

With your teams, you will work on business critical projects, tackling architectural and conceptual challenges, pick and integrate with 3rd party vendors and interface and collaborate with many other Engineers and teams around Bitpanda such as our Brokerage or Trade Hub teams. We have many new, exciting but also challenging initiatives coming up which will play a crucial role in Bitpandas future success which you could be part of.

What Youll Do

• Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services.
• Write clean Java code with high test coverage and extensive testing (e.g. integration).
• Using event driven architecture, drive change in our monoliths and microservices.
• Work closely with non functional requirements such as reliability, performance, scalability and maintainability.
• Take care of new feature development and future proofing of our core backend products.
• Help the team migrate from PHP to Java; you're the expert.

Who You Are

• You have a track record as a Senior Backend Engineer using Java (11+).
• Working knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably PostgresSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs.
• Practical knowledge in using message-oriented middleware (Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ).
• Know-how setting up and running CI/CD pipelines and tools and hands on experience AWS.
• You have a fundamental belief that all code should be SOLID and thoroughly tested .
