Summary
As a Principal Designer on the brand team, you'll be responsible for setting the creative bar at Square. You are a hands-on designer who loves to iterate, push, and refine. Reporting to the Head of Brand Creative, you will collaborate with the brand team to craft the design strategies, artifacts, and guidelines that define the Square brand. You will frequently partner with creatives from teams across Square to push the bounds of what our brand is capable of. This is a highly-collaborative role and the ideal candidate has the ability to inspire partners through their work and their behaviors. The brand team's job is to both raise the bar and empower others, as we believe that everyone's success is our success.
You Will
- Make bar-raising creative that shows teams how our brand can stretch into new and exciting ways.
- Create interactive brand guidelines and tools teams rely on to make great work
- Leverage Ai to help build brand management and creative tools
- Co-create with teams to ensure the the brand scales, and shows up as best-in-class across all channels
- Empower and inspire teams with the strategies, tools, and examples they need to achieve great results
- Leverage brand strategy and insights to promote and defend brand decisions.
- Present creative work to senior stakeholders and core leadership
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure our brand scales appropriately for regional differences
You Have
- 12+ years of design experience in a brand-focused creative agency or in-house brand team.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing brand and interactive work
- Excellent typographic and art direction sensibilities
- Experience leading large-scale rebrands for major brands or tech companies
- Strong expertise in web and motion design tools (Figma, Framer, After Effects, etc…)
- Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration and leadership alignment

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
