Summary

As the Director of People, you will lead the People function at Blockworks, serving as the people business partner for the entire organization. Reporting directly to the Co-Founders, you will provide strategic direction for everything that involves the incredible humans that drive Blockworks forward. You will play a pivotal role in cultivating our culture as we grow and nurturing growth and development within our team. 

This is a heavily cross functional role as you will work closely with all departments to ensure we are enabling every employee to do their best work. You will lead a People & Talent Manager and work together to build and improve upon impactful programs for our team.

This role is preferably located in the tri-state area, but we are open to remote candidates in the U.S.

What Youll Do:

Culture & Talent 

  • Provide strategic direction to co-founders and functional leads, partnering with them to solve people challenges and optimize their teams performance and job satisfaction
  • Work with leadership to conduct headcount planning and continuously evaluate our organizational design as we scale
  • Use data to drive new people initiatives to improve the employee experience and obtain buy-in from leadership and employees
  • Champion our culture throughout the organization, instilling our values in all practices and programs and influencing others to do the same
  • Own our performance management and compensation review program, evolving it based on feedback from the team and the changing needs of the business
  • Partner with the People & Talent Manager on building Blockworks competitive advantage by establishing a strong employer brand and value proposition in order to attract and acquire the best talent in the market

People Operations 

  • Shape the strategy for Blockworks Total Rewards in partnership with the executive team to ensure our total rewards strategy remains competitive, annually reviewing all aspects of compensation, equity, incentives, benefits and perks
  • Establish & maintain highly efficient infrastructure for all people-related operations, including evolving the tech stack as needed 
  • Regularly review and refresh our operating procedures and policies, evolving them as we grow and ensuring we are complying with all relevant government regulations and policies 
  • Monitor relationships with external human resources providers (e.g. HRIS & ATS systems), periodically re-evaluating in order to meet business objectives and provide the best possible resources and support for our team

What Were Looking for:

  • 8+ years of progressive people operations experience, with at least 2 years leading the people function at a fast-growing early-stage startup
  • Deep knowledge across all HR functions (benefits, compensation, employee relations and wellbeing, forecasting, HRIS, on/off-boarding, payroll, talent and performance, training and development, etc.)
  • A track record of building and nurturing high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance and influence decision-making at the executive level, ideally having worked with and reported to Founders 
  • Strong understanding of organizational design, headcount planning, and scalable people processes
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at collaborating at all levels of the organization 
  • Unquestionable personal integrity, fairness, and credibility, and the ability to gain the trust of teammates at all levels
  • Ability to think critically, adapt easily and a strong ability to shift focus based on business priorities
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations

  • A passion for web3/crypto or experience working in the space! 
  • Experience working with PEO platforms and Ashby
