At Tristero, we’re building crypto’s first performant decentralized dark pool. Today, if you’re trading on-chain, you’re broadcasting your trades to the world before they happen. Sophisticated actors systematically front-run all trades (MEV, stat arb), resulting in most high value trading activity remaining within the confines of centralized exchanges which share all of the downsides of the system crypto was meant to replace.

For the first time in history, it’s possible to trade on a market where you and only you have knowledge of your trade until it executes. This means complete autonomy through the entire trade cycle. We believe this is a paradigm shift for all market participants—not just those already in crypto today.

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Back-End Software Engineer to join our team. We’re primarily looking for assistance on our cross-chain settlement engine, but we’ll always make room for other exceptional skills/experience.

What you'll do

1. Design and build scalable, high-performance decentralized exchange systems
2. Integrate DeFi protocols, bridges, and liquidity sources across multiple blockchains into our system
3. Build and maintain APIs, internal tools, and services that support our front-end, partners, and ops teams
4. Optimize performance, reliability, and uptime of our core trading infrastructure
5. Identify and resolve scaling bottlenecks across infrastructure, data ingestion, and execution logic
6. Collaborate closely with founders and engineers on product direction, architecture, and roadmap

What we’re looking for

1. 3+ years of professional back-end engineering experience (we’re hiring at multiple seniority levels)
2. Strong proficiency with modern back-end systems design
3. Deep understanding of API design, databases, and distributed systems
4. Familiarity with DeFi protocols and crypto infrastructure—or a proven ability to ramp up quickly
5. Experience going from a single monolith to a scalable multi-service infrastructure, ideally in GCP
6. Self-directed, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and eager to take ownership

Nice to have

1. Experience with DEXs, bridges, RPC infrastructure, and on-chain transaction building
2. Experience working with blockchain data (e.g., The Graph, subgraphs, custom ETLs)
3. Knowledge of TradFi APIs and data ingestion patterns
4. Experience deploying to and managing global cloud infrastructure across multiple regions (e.g., GCP, Kubernetes, Docker)
5. Contributions to open source or crypto protocols
6. Prior startup or early-stage experience
