Summary

As the leader of our Business Development team, you bring an extensive track record of translating business priorities into actionable partnership strategies, executing high impact deals, and driving needle-moving results.  Youve built, managed, and scaled world-class Business Development teams and have significant experience working with a diverse set of cross-functional stakeholders to drive initiatives forward.  Simultaneously analytical and gregarious, youre equally at ease building a complex financial model as you are driving effective decision-making with an executive audience or negotiating critical deal terms with a prospective partner.

The opportunity

  • Own Krakens business development strategy and partnership roadmap, with a focus on identifying new opportunities to expand our product reach, drive incremental monetization,  and / or accelerate the path to market for new products and services  
  • Oversee the entire partnership process, including strategy development, market mapping, target assessment, due diligence, integration planning, negotiation, and deal execution
  • Grow and manage a high-performing Business Development team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture
  • Articulate key value drivers and considerations for potential partnership opportunities in concise presentations and deal memos; drive effective decision-making across Krakens executive team and the wider organization
  • Cultivate an extensive industry network and maintain meaningful relationships to stay on top of key trends and industry developments

Skills you should HODL

  • 12+ years of experience in Business Development, with significant exposure to crypto or a hyper-growth FinTech environment; earlier career experience in a related field - such as product management, corporate strategy, venture capital or management consulting - is desired 
  • Deep experience driving all aspects of the Business Development lifecycle, including strategy development, target evaluation, negotiation, and integration planning 
  • Demonstrable passion for financial markets and the crypto industry, including an  understanding of emerging trends, customer needs, regulatory developments, and the competitive landscape; extensive network across the crypto and TradFi strongly desired
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and product instincts; ability to see around corners, anticipating industry developments and identifying partnership opportunities that ensure our business stays ahead of the curve
  • Ruthless sense of prioritization, ensuring that we stay focused on opportunities with the greatest potential to drive impact
  • Sharp analytical mind and detail-orientation, with the ability to build sound business cases to evaluate (and support) partnership opportunities
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills; strong executive presence with the ability to drive effective decision-making 
  • Long track record of effective  cross-functional collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and beyond
  • Knowledge of global financial regulations (and how they apply to crypto); international business experience a plus
