Summary
As a Federal Affairs Lead, you will be a part of a team that develops and executes a strategy for engagement with federal policymakers. You will deepen relationships, track key legislative and regulatory issues, and will work cros- functionally to ensure Block's vision of economic empowerment and access to financial systems is well represented at all levels of the federal government.
You will be a part of the broader Global Policy Team, and will report to the Head of Americas Policy. In this role you will support and collaborate with colleagues across policy, including in Government Affairs, Central Policy, Regulatory Affairs, and Community and Policy Partnerships. This role is based in Washington DC.
You Will
- Be a part of a team that is responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage proactively and reactively with federally elected officials, Congressional staff, third party groups, regulatory agencies, and the Administration on issues affecting Block.
- Find creative, proactive ways to engage with elected stakeholders to deliver key messaging on issues of importance.
- Maintain fluency on a wide variety of regulatory and policy issues including financial regulation, consumer protection, trade, tax, digital assets, AI/machine learning, intellectual property, and privacy.
- Serve as an effective advocate for Block and our customers on key policy and political matters, and craft positions for the company that will establish us as a thought leader and innovator.
- Track key regulatory activity, and develop strategies to achieve positive regulatory outcomes .
- Drive processes to develop thoughtful, inclusive, and cohesive responses to incoming policy hurdles.
You Have
- 8+ years of experience in federal government relations, with a preference for experience in the financial services and technology sectors
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; and an ability to effectively explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience.
- Experience navigating complex policy issues
- Ability to be adaptable to changing timelines and able to prioritize effectively.
- A love of technology, and passion for Block's purpose.
- Experience working collaboratively across internal functions
- Entrepreneurial style and comfort working in fast-paced environments
- Impeccable ethics and high integrity

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
