Job Description

Summary

As a Full Stack Staff Engineer on the Applications and SDK Development team at Polygon Labs, you'll step into a mission-critical role where code meets creativity. You won’t just be writing software—you’ll be engineering the connective tissue of web3 experiences. From building intuitive bridge and staking interfaces to architecting powerful multi-chain SDKs, your work will power seamless interactions across the Polygon network. Think of this as your chance to shape the future of blockchain usability.

You’ll thrive here if you’re energized by technical challenges, obsessed with UX in the decentralized world, and eager to mentor a team of sharp minds. If you get a rush from delivering secure, scalable systems that millions rely on—this is the adventure for you.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Architect and build full-stack applications that talk to smart contracts and EVM chains—delivering snappy, intuitive web3 experiences.
  2. Take the reins on system design for dApps, multi-chain SDKs, and smart contract indexers spanning multiple Layer 2 networks.
  3. Champion best practices in code quality, scalability, and performance while tackling tech debt like a boss.
  4. Mentor a dynamic team of engineers and collaborate across disciplines—from Product to Security—to deliver resilient, future-ready solutions.
  5. Contribute to planning, sizing, and de-risking of complex projects with many moving parts.
  6. Keep a pulse on performance, security, and observability to ensure smooth sailing in production.
  7. Relentless commitment to quality – You champion a testing-first mindset and implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

What You'll Need

  1. 6–8+ years of hands-on full-stack engineering experience, with deep roots in both frontend and backend.
  2. At least 4 years steeped in web3—building with blockchain protocols, smart contracts, and decentralized tooling.
  3. Mastery of modern JS/TS frameworks like React, Next.js, or Vue.js—your frontend skills should be second nature.
  4. Deep knowledge of databases, both SQL (Postgres) and NoSQL (Mongo, Firestore), and when to use which.
  5. Backend prowess with Node.js, REST APIs, and microservice architectures; experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is a must.
  6. A solid grasp of Intent-Based Bridging and Solver Networks—bonus points if you’ve worked on them in production.
  7. Ability to read, understand, and integrate Solidity contracts into real-world applications.
  8. Proven success working in fast-moving, agile environments and collaborating across multiple teams to ship scalable systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience building or scaling apps on Ethereum L2s.
  2. A design-first mindset and familiarity with prototyping for rapid iteration and user feedback.
  3. Passion for mentorship and a track record of helping senior engineers grow into leaders.
  4. Strong influence in setting technical direction and cross-team architectural decisions.
  5. Skilled communicator who builds bridges across engineering, product, and business.
  6. Knowledge of non-EVM ecosystems and proficiency in Rust development.
  7. Real-world experience writing Solidity smart contracts.
  8. Active contributor to open-source web3 projects—or better yet, a maintainer.
