Summary

We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join our Crypto Custody team. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and scaling secure, high-performance blockchain and crypto wallet products for Ava Labs and our ecosystem partners. This role is an integral part of our technical leadership group—pioneering cutting-edge solutions, building modular and scalable crypto wallet infrastructures, and ensuring the highest standards of security.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Innovate & Architect:
2. Design, develop, and maintain crypto wallet systems using Golang, ensuring robust support for protocols such as multi-party computation (MPC) and multi-signature (multi-sig) configurations
3. Architect modular, scalable backend systems with an unwavering commitment to security and performance
4. Collaborate Across Teams:
5. Work closely with Partners to optimize configurations and setups for Ava Labs products
6. Provide technical guidance across Business Development, Product, Security, Finance, and Engineering teams
7. Drive Product Advancements:
8. Assess opportunities and recommend solutions tailored to client needs
9. Establish architectures and systems that ensure mass adoption of Ava Labs products while maintaining top-tier security
10. Exhibit Extreme Ownership:
11. Demonstrate an independent, driven mindset that thrives on taking initiative without being micromanaged

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

1. Technical Expertise:
2. 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems, particularly in Golang—experience with JavaScript is a plus
3. Proven track record in building crypto wallets or blockchain-related products 
4. Deep understanding of both UTXO and Account models, state management, and consensus mechanisms
5. Extensive experience in secure coding practices with a very strong understanding of security principles as they apply to blockchain and crypto wallet systems
6. Familiarity with competitive technologies and cloud service setups

NICE TO HAVE

1. 3+ years of solutions architecture experience
2. Experience with multi-party computation (MPC) protocols
3. Hands-on experience with advanced security testing tools and methodologies
4. Expertise in infrastructure engineering, including Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
5. Prior senior-level engineering experience in a blockchain or crypto organization

Salary Range: $184,450.00-$219,034.00
