Summary

Department environment 

We aim to achieve a balance between corporate culture and start-up culture, and at the same time be close to product solutions. Therefore, we divide our department into small self-sufficient teams that can make decisions on their own. This applies to all stages of product production: from conceptualisation to architecture, to build, to release, to iteration and support.

You will join as part of the Platform team, responsible for technical direction and maintenance of core platform functionality. The team are currently working on a solution to support a single deployable code base across multiple legal entities with unique legal and licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the role

1. Design, develop, and maintain backend services that support core Copper Platform functionality.
2. Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers and QA engineers on new features.
3. Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain quality of our products.
4. Take full ownership from development to delivery and support.
5. Support and solve problems from clients and stakeholders.

Your experience, skills and knowledge

Essential

1. Proficiency building software with a JVM language. We primarily use Scala but are willing to consider someone with Kotlin and Java background.
2. Knowledge of both object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
3. Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
4. Experience building APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
5. Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas, problems, and solutions.

Desirable

1. Experience in a B2B SaaS environment.
2. Knowledge of modern API authentication and authorisation techniques and their applications.
3. Familiarity with messaging systems and their applications.
4. Expose to DevOps or SRE practices.
