As a Software Engineer III - React Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Card Installment Team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

 

Job responsibilities 

  1. Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  2. Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate system
  3. Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and CI/CD Pipelines to improve development efficiency and reliability 
  4. Implement monitoring and alerting for automated processes to proactively detect issues
  5. Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  6. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  7. Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  8. Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  9. Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
  10. Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  11. Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect 
  12.  

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  1. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience  
  2. Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  3. Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages including React, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  4. Demonstrable ability to code in one or more languages
  5. Overall knowledge of the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  6. Exposure to agile methodologies and events such as working in sprints, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, sprint metrics
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  8. Ability to communicate and present technical concepts, approaches, and roadblocks to a range of audiences
  9.  

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  1. Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as TypeScript
  2. Experience with WCAG 2.1 and integrating accessibility into the Software Development Life Cycle
  3. Knowledge and familiarity of test automation technologies such as Cucumber, Selenium, etc
  4. Knowledge of git, conventional commits, and best practices in authoring commit history
  5. Experience with AI tools especially as it assists in development and testing
  6. Familiarity with User Experience best practices to help design customer friendly experiences
  7. Exposure to cloud technologies
