Job Description

Summary

Role Summary

We are seeking a smart contract and DLT engineer to lead the technical development of a prototype clearing and settlement engine for GBP-denominated stablecoins. This sub-contracted, short-term UK-based role will focus on building a permissioned Ethereum-based proof-of-concept (PoC) for atomic Delivery-versus-Payment (DvP) and Delivery-versus-Delivery (DvD) functionality using modular smart contracts. You will work closely with the founding team to design, build, and test the core architecture underpinning a regulated digital settlement platform.

Duties / Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement smart contracts for DvP/DvD settlement using Solidity (or Vyper)
  2. Integrate tokenised GBP stablecoin mockups and ERC-20 representations of financial assets
  3. Build access-controlled modules for participant whitelisting and role-based functions
  4. Develop a local testnet simulation for multi-party transaction settlement scenarios
  5. Create basic user interfaces and API hooks for instruction submission and reconciliation
  6. Document system logic, interfaces, and testing procedures for internal and regulatory review

Required Skills

  1. Proficiency in Solidity, Ethereum smart contract development, and DLT design patterns
  2. Strong understanding of atomic settlement mechanisms, particularly DvP and DvD
  3. Experience with Truffle, Hardhat, Ganache, or similar smart contract development tools
  4. Familiarity with access control frameworks, multisig wallets, and EIP standards
  5. Ability to work independently in a startup/prototype environment, under fast-paced timelines

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  2. 2–5 years of experience in blockchain development, with at least one deployed PoC or pilot
  3. Prior exposure to financial infrastructure or stablecoins is a strong plus
  4. Experience working with startups, innovation labs, or regulated fintech projects preferred

Additional Requirements or Expectations Specific to the Position

  1. Sub-contract position; up to 5 months , with possible extension
  2. UK-based candidates only — right to work in the UK is required
  3. Remote, with weekly virtual team check-ins and milestone-based reporting
  4. Occasional in-person meetings in London may be required (reasonable travel costs covered)
  5. Candidate must be able to deliver production-quality prototypes with minimal supervision
