Summary

We are seeking an experienced litigation counsel who can manage consumer arbitration and litigation matters in the US. You will be working in a cutting edge and fast paced environment, where disruptive technologies and unconventional thinking are the norm. This role is perfect for a high-energy, strategic attorney with substantial experience in these areas who has the ability to manage our expanding litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication skills, understand business pragmatism, and be the consummate team player. 

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

1. Manage fast-paced docket of consumer litigation and arbitration in the US. 
2. Develop, execute, and continuously assess Coinbase global consumer litigation strategy and tactics, including providing thought leadership, strategic direction and proactive solutions.  
3. Identify and mitigate consumer protection issues and risks arising out of operating the most trusted crypto platforms.
4. Advise a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders on Coinbase’s global consumer litigation matters and strategy.
5. Draft and file pleadings and briefs as needed.  
6. Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Coinbase.
7. Work collegially and supportively with other members of the legal team.  

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

1. 6+ years of litigation experience at a top law firm and/or in-house experience.
2. Experience managing and successfully resolving strategic litigation.
3. Experience with consumer protection law and consumer class actions.
4. Strong negotiation skills.
5. Ability to manage expanding litigation practice, using outside counsel strategically and efficiently.
6. Excellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication, and business pragmatism.
7. Team player essential -- willing to tackle tasks large or small.
8. Ability to learn new areas of the law quickly and well.
9. Organized and detail oriented.
10. Juris doctor from accredited law school required.
11. Member of a US state bar in good standing.
12. Occasional travel required.
13. Bonus: experience working with or in the cryptocurrency space, FinTech space, and financial institutions and markets.

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):

$224,995 - $264,700 USD
