Summary

a16z Perennial is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Client Service Manager to support the daily operations for an exclusive group of clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with clients who are visionaries in their field and amongst a team seeking to redefine the motion for private investment offices. The Client Service Manager role is the front line of the client relationships, managing investment administration and the associated operations with an elevated standard of care. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a collaborative and tightly knit team. This position will report to the Portfolio Manager.

The preferred location for this role is Menlo Park, CA. We are open to candidates in the Bay Area. The role will require in-office presence in the Menlo Park office at least once a week.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  1. Implement and improve the day-to-day processes associated with best-in-class client operations such as managing an air tight client treasury program 
  2. Own the lifecycle of investment operations for the given set of clients, from document completion to coordinating with the firms and investment managers 
  3. Serve as the interface with external service providers including private banking, legal, and accounting relationships on behalf of the clients, ensuring smooth day-to-day functions
  4. Develop and maintain robust data practices from cost basis tracking to document transfer and storage
  5. Drive high client satisfaction through excellent customer service, prompt follow-up on client issues, and proactive problem solving
  6. Active management of client relationships developing a deep understanding of client preferences to ensure a white-glove experience
  7. Set up complex client accounts, such as PALs and SMAs, both at the custodian, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  8. Ideate on and contribute to growth and change across a rapidly developing organization

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 6+ years of experience in client services/operations for a private bank, RIA, or single family office
  2. Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree or Professional Certificate (CPA, CFA, etc.) a plus
  3. Have a tech-forward mindset and be excited to leverage technology in building scalable processes
  4. Demonstrated experience and understanding of wealth management and financial reporting 
  5. Extensive experience with portfolio management software, CRM/Salesforce, Google docs, and custodial platform tools
  6. Experience in developing, documenting, and implementing operations and workflows
  7. Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  9. Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $166,000 - $193,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
