Summary
As Lead Counsel – Korea, you will primarily help to advise on existing and emerging laws in Korea. You will understand the impact of these laws on Roblox’s product and operations. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and remotely from Headquarters, and collaboratively with all company partners.
This position is based in our Gangnam office, reporting to the Head of APAC, Regulatory & International Legal.
You Will:
- Advise on existing, pending, and developing regulations affecting Roblox, including regulations concerning online UGC platforms and consumer protection issues in Korea;
- Identify new trends in the regulations and educate company leadership on their implications;
- Help create a cross-functional response to legal obligations;
- Develop and implement procedures, policies and programs to ensure Roblox compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Korea
- Analyze complex legal issues and translate analysis into practical advice;
- Evaluate, engage, and oversee outside counsel in Korea;
- Liaise and develop strong relationships with relevant regulators in Korea;
- Provide legal advice and support in relation to local content ratings issues;
- Respond to requests for compliance advice from engineering, product and marketing teams concerning time-sensitive communications and product releases.
You Have:
- 8+ years PQE with a top tier Korean or international law firm and/or tech corporation (e.g. gaming, online safety, privacy, social media, content regulations)
- Strong business-oriented judgment and the ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical, and legally acceptable, taking into account the needs and objectives of the business;
- Licensed to practice law in Korea
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to work well with a small, tightly knit team and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously. Must be able to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues
- Experience assessing, analyzing and resolving multiple risk management-related issues and challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic organization, with limited supervision
- Experience with applicable regulatory requirements and identifying emerging trends.
- Track record of interfacing with cross-functional leadership to solve problems and manage complex issues.
