Summary

Key responsibilities

The Head of Engineering will act as a Deputy CTO and lead all software development efforts to build and maintain a secure, high-performance, and scalable yield generation platform. The role requires technical depth, strategic thinking, blockchain foundation relationships, and strong leadership. You will work closely with product, security, and operations to build software service solutions that meet client and partner needs while fostering strategic partnerships with the Ethereum Foundation and other leading blockchain foundations.

Key responsibilities

  1. Define and implement a technology-first strategy that drives competitive advantage, multi-year evolution, and exponential scalability.
  2. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of staking, yield, and blockchain products, ensuring quality, scalability, and security.
  3. Ensure API services are reliable, resilient, and able to handle high throughput and complex blockchain stateful cases with strong security.
  4. Lead, mentor, and grow teams of Technical Leads, Software Engineers, smart contract developers, and tech managers, fostering a culture of web3 innovation and continuous improvement.
  5. Manage hiring, performance, and competency growth; collaborate with product managers for resource planning and alignment.
  6. Drive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, incident management, and continuous reliability improvements.
  7. Oversee engineering processes, tech stack, and adoption of new engineering practices.
  8. Collaborate across product, operations, and security to ensure alignment on goals and deliverables.
  9. Oversee engineering budget planning, balancing cost efficiency with strategic needs.

Community Engagement & Industry Relations

  1. Engage with the blockchain community, particularly key protocols like Ethereum.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with leading protocols, sharing insights and staying informed on staking, yield, and infrastructure developments.
  3. Represent p2p.org at events, conferences, and forums, presenting on technical topics.
  4. Collaborate with industry partners on integrations, joint initiatives, and pilot programs aligned with protocol upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  2. 10+ years of technical leadership across full tech stacks, architecture, development processes, and multi-year technical strategy.
  3. 5+ years building and managing high-performing software teams from scratch.
  4. 3+ years designing, building, and launching Web3 and Crypto products.
  5. Experience designing and scaling API servers, with strong knowledge of RESTful principles, security, and performance optimization.
  6. Expertise in scalable, high-load, fault-tolerant, secure, highly-available services.
  7. Proven management of tech managers, leads, and senior ICs; strong ability to dive into complex technical discussions.
  8. Experience partnering with product leadership, driving engineering best practices, and meeting strict client SLAs.
  9. Experience with agile budget planning and resource allocation.
  10. Strong DevOps knowledge (CI/CD, containerization, cloud infrastructure).
  11. Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Background in blockchain technology, especially staking/yield/stablecoin services.
  2. Understanding of protocols (Ethereum, Polkadot, TON, Bitcoin, Cosmos) and decentralized applications.
  3. Public engagement and collaboration with leading blockchain protocols.
  4. Knowledge of blockchain security and mitigation strategies.
  5. Experience engaging with protocol researchers and developers.
  6. Smart contract development and stablecoin yield experience is a plus.
