Summary
Join Bitpanda as an Anti-Financial Crime Compliance Specialist and be part of our innovative team breaking down barriers to personal finance ensuring a secure and trustworthy financial ecosystem. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the governance of our AFC Compliance program and for the development of trustworthy business relationships with other financial institutions, fintechs, and crypto asset providers, while making a meaningful impact in preventing financial crime.
What you’ll do
- Policy Development and Maintenance: Assist in the development, review, and update of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance, while ensuring their effective communication and implementation across the organisation.
- Execution of Quality Controls: Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures, identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations to enhance compliance and operational efficiency, and ensure that quality control findings are documented and addressed promptly.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Product, Hyperautomation, Operations, Risk Management and Legal departments on various projects to ensure a coordinated approach to financial crime compliance at Bitpanda with effective risk mitigation measures and robust processes in place. Communicate effectively with senior management by providing regular updates on compliance activities and issues.
- Project/Process Management: Analyse, devise and improve processes to enhance efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness within the AFC compliance framework; Support the implementation of process improvements and best practices; Drive AFC compliance project initiatives by defining objectives, timelines, and ensuring successful execution and delivery. Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues, monitor project progress, maintain effective communication with stakeholders by providing regular updates, and ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements through comprehensive documentation.
Who you are
- Educational & Legal Acumen: Holds a degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field, ideally with a strong legal background, enabling deep understanding of complex regulatory frameworks.
- Compliance Experience: Brings hands-on experience from compliance roles within crypto, banking, or fintech sectors, with solid knowledge of AML legislation (e.g., FM-GWG) and the ability to translate regulatory requirements (e.g., Travel Rule) into scalable operational solutions.
- Multilingual Communication: Demonstrates excellent English skills, both written and verbal, with additional proficiency in German or other European languages (e.g., French, Italian, Spanish), and can effectively communicate complex compliance matters to diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical & Process-Oriented Mindset: Possesses strong critical thinking and process mapping abilities, with attention to legal compliance, operational impact, and scalability in dynamic regulatory environments.
- Organised & Self-Driven Team Player: Excels in managing multiple projects and stakeholders, delivers high-quality outcomes with autonomy and attention to detail, while actively contributing to team efforts and cross-functional initiatives.
