Summary

GSR is looking for an in-house Legal Counsel to join our global organisation on a full-time basis as a member of the Trading Documentation Legal team. You will be instrumental in facilitating the growth of our business both within the United States and other international jurisdictions, working closely with Senior Management and the Compliance, Business Development, and Trading functions.

Responsibilities

1. Supporting the Business Development and Trading functions by advising on customer transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements relating to GSR’s core business activities.
2. These will include but not be limited to:
3. Market making agreements
4. In-house OTC trading agreements
5. ISDA negotiation
6. Loan agreements
7. Custody agreements (including tri-party)
8. Acting as a gatekeeper for the Legal Department’s advice to the business on a wide range of legal matters, including regulatory, commercial, corporate, and operational, and escalating appropriately.
9. Liaising with external legal counsel to obtain guidance and reach resolution on highly specialised legal matters, local regulation, and licensing as they relate to the transactions on which you are working.
10. General overall support to the Legal & Compliance team.

Your Profile

1. 5+ years Post Qualification Experience at a major law firm or an in-house legal department in the financial services industry is required.
2. Understanding of securities and derivatives law, with experience drafting and negotiating ISDA Master Agreements and/or one or more asset specific ISDA documentation framework(s) (or securitised analogs thereof).
3. Experience with a variety of underlying asset classes (e.g. credit derivatives, interest rates, FX, commodity derivatives, equity derivatives) is a plus.
4. Experience in crypto-currency markets is a plus.
5. Experience of loan documentation, repo/securities lending, and/or custody documentation is a plus.
6. Strong commercial awareness with good negotiation and project management skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment and to “own” a complex transaction from inception to completion.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism to interact well with internal and external stakeholders.
