Department Purpose:

Team Purpose:
People Operations support and drive several key people functions, including people lifecycle administration, contracting, business support, people data analysis, process improvement, remuneration and benefits support, employee relations and wide scope of people related projects. People Operations team play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of our employees.
Role Purpose:
The People Lead will work as a part of global People Operations team, with primary focus on our Americas region. This critical role will cover all aspects of human resource management and will manage essential stages of the employee life cycle, and employee experience. Reporting to Head of HR Operations, People Lead - Americas will also work closely Payroll Lead and collaborate with other People team sub-functions, as well as different departments across entire organisation
Key Responsibilities:
Leading / Overseeing
- Employee Relations lead for all US based employees & managers – including grievances, disciplinaries and performance management.
- Horizon scanning and policy updates for US employment and immigration legislation changes.
- Partnering and advising the employee and managers at all levels in the US to ensure HR self-service is maximised.
- Manage and continuously improve the local onboarding - ensuring you offer a seamless experience for all new starters.
- Manage and continuously improve the offboarding process, including leavers’ documentation, exit interview analysis and alumni programmes.
- Collaborate with the Reward / Engagement manager on the implementation of reward and engagement projects in the US.
- Collaborate with the L&D manager on local training delivery.
- Supporting the Talent Acquisition team with hiring needs in the US and meeting candidates in the New York Office.
- Drive HR operations efficiencies through new ways of working and adoption of technology.
- Facilitate employee/manager queries regarding people operations needs and benefits.
- Participate in global People and cross functional projects, leading local delivery.
Hands On Administration
- Pre and onboard new employees including issuing new starter documents, employment contracts, background checks, right to work checks and co-ordinate the onboarding experience, in the US and globally.
- Issue employee lifecycle documentation incl. but not limited to employment related letters, absence, benefits and ad hoc documentation.
- Address various HR request and queries, triage accordingly in collaboration with wider People Ops team and process adequately.
- Maintain US employees’ records to the highest standards.
- Ensure that all data is accurately updated on all People information systems and relevant platforms.
- Perform HR Data reporting and analysis.
- Support with administration across the wider People function including offering support to Talent Acquisition, L&D and Rewards and Engagements.
- Develop People process to improve the current employee experience.
- Maintain a high-level of confidentiality in all matters relating to employee issues or employee personal data.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Accurate application of employee data within systems and documents, adhering to confidentiality standards and maintaining data integrity. Able to handle confidential information and conversations sensitively.
- Understanding of the employee lifecycle, including pre, on and offboarding requirements and employees’ engagement throughout the course of employment.
- Previous experience managing a People inbox and responding to all incoming enquiries from the business, efficiently and accurately.
- Knowledge of US employment and immigration legislation and HR processes.
- Genuine passion and enthusiasm for creating a great employee experience.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced People advisor role.
- Proven ability to operate in a flexible and pragmatic way, with a commercial mindset.
- A collaborative team player.
- Self-starter who can identify improvement opportunities.
Desirable
- Degree or professional equivalent in HR or a relevant discipline qualification.
- Demonstrable research skills regarding forthcoming employment law, immigration and taxation developments, assessing and determining the impact to the business.

The interview process at Copper
Our interview process is designed to be thoughtful, efficient, and engaging. While specific steps may vary slightly depending on the role, the typical journey includes:
1. Initial Screening
An introduction conversation with our Talent Acquisition team to explore your background, motivations, and alignment with the role.
2. Technical Interviews:
- You will firstly meet the Head of HR and another People Lead in a virtual session conducted via Microsoft Teams, this will allow you to engage with team members to discuss relevant skills, problem-solving approaches, and technical experience.
- If all goes well we will set a follow up call with our Head of HR to go into your HR experience in more detail
3. In-Person Interview in our New York Office
: We will welcome you in to meet our New York Team. It will be a conversation focused on team dynamics, collaboration style, and any final technical questions.
Additional steps may be added based on the role's complexity or seniority. We aim to keep the process transparent and respectful of your time.
Salary
Expected salary range: $110,000 to $130,000 per annum. Salary will be determined based on relevant skills and experience.
