Summary

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and will work closely with Assistant Controllers, Fund Accounting Managers and other finance staff. The primary responsibility of this role is portfolio company wire confirmation as well as the related general ledger entries and preparation of financial statements. We use enterprise software (AllVue, IPREO, Salesforce, HazelTree) for efficiency and scale.

  1. Generate capital call and distribution mailings
  2. Perform wire verification checks, prepare purchase, valuation and other entries
  3. Assist in cash and stock distributions
  4. Maintain portfolio tracking reports
  5. Work in a coordinated manner with the team to complete quarterly and annual financial statements
  6. Coordinate with portfolio company counsel and internal legal team as necessary
  7. Assist with documentation in accordance with SEC guidelines
  8. Assist Controller/Assistant Controller with projects as needed

This role requires an in-office presence 2-3 days a week in our San Francisco, CA or Menlo Park, CA office.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education experience, with focus in accounting or finance
  2. 3 years of combined public accounting or relevant accounting experience
  3. Able to deal with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  4. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  5. Understanding of partnership accounting and/or asset management operations a plus
  6. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV accounting software a plus
  7. Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $119,000 - $139,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
