● Define and optimize unlock conditions, rewards, and EV for each segment
● Ensure alignment with the economy and existing systems (including Source/Sink)
● Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and improve A/B testing and measurement requirements
● Design and balance mechanics and progression systems that enhance player flow, engagement, and retention
● Continuous tuning after release
● Analyze player data, win rate analysis, and retention rate to optimize gameplay curves and in-game economic balance
● Define difficulty curves, reward designs, and Expected Value models for each player segment and improve them based on live data
● Work with the operations team to build a sustainable in-game economy while maintaining a healthy source/sink design
● Work closely with data analysts to analyze clear rates, retry rates, booster usage rates, and monetization correlations
● Build and maintain difficulty levels (e.g., Normal/Hard/Boss/Event)
● Lead the operational tuning cycle
● Design hypotheses, implement parameter adjustments, measure results, and make improvements
● Collaborating with UX/Art/Engineering teams to optimize puzzle objective communication and player feedback design
; designing and conducting A/B tests for parameters, rewards, and difficulty settings
; and documenting tuning frameworks and economic design for knowledge sharing.
Application Requirements
● Candidates with experience developing and operating Free2Play style puzzles and merge games, and with a deep understanding of game mechanics.
● Candidates who can communicate with the CEO with a sense of ownership.
● Candidates who can independently develop mockups using Unity and communicate based on highly feasible ideas.
● Candidates with a strong interest in game design, level design, player psychology, and data science
are required skills.
● F2P system design skills: Ability to integrate difficulty, progress flow, and economics (rewards/charges) based on the Puzzle/Merge genre, and explain the impact on Retention/Monetization (LTV, etc.)
● Data-driven improvement cycle operation skills: Ability to create actions from win/loss rates, EV, retention differences, live KPIs, etc., and rapidly cycle through hypothesis → implementation → measurement → learning
● Specification and consensus-building communication skills: Ability to clearly share design intent, expected effects, and risks with Engineering/Art/QA/analysis/operation based on PRD/Mock/data specifications and gain agreement
● Production planning and efficiency skills: Ability to estimate the production volume/man-hours for level production and develop productivity improvement plans including AI/automation
● Understanding the impact of difficulty design, flow design, and economic systems on retention rate and monetization
● Ability to analyze quantitative data (win/loss rates, ARPDAU, Expected Value, Retention Difference, etc.) and translate it into design actions
● Experience in capacity planning for level production in casual genres (including automation and AI tool utilization)
● Ability to quickly implement improvements based on live KPIs and user feedback
● Ability to deliver results in an agile environment
● Strong communication skills to clearly convey design intent and logic to other departments
● Experience designing in the hybrid casual genre
Welcome skills
● Experiment and operational infrastructure utilization skills: Ability to understand A/B testing infrastructure and Remote Config, etc., and to safely perform balancing and verification even after release.
● Modeling/simulation design skills: Ability to model (predict) the economy, continuity, and revenue, and use this for design decision-making.
● Economic cycle (Source/Sink, reward pace) design skills: Ability to design the supply and consumption of currency/rewards to suppress inflation/depletion.
● Quantitative balancing skills: Ability to perform adjustments with high reproducibility using expected value, difficulty curve, and win rate data.
● Understanding of A/B testing frameworks and live balancing tools.
● Background in economic simulation, retention modeling, and monetization design.
● Practical experience in source/sink design and reward pacing design.
● Experience in expected value modeling, difficulty curve design, and win rate-based balancing.
Desired candidate profile
● Someone who can discuss the common communication foundations of a game designer (UA / Retention / Engagement / Monetization / LiveOps) with evidence and examples, centered on the player experience.
● Someone who can rapidly cycle through hypothesis → implementation (specification) → measurement → learning, and continuously update the optimal solution.
● Someone who can consistently present "new perspectives" as options during the consensus-building stage with stakeholders.
● Someone who is data-driven but doesn't lose sight of the essence of the player experience.
● A designer who can rapidly iterate through hypotheses and communicate with numbers.
● Possesses a systems thinking ability that allows for a comprehensive view of the balance between economic design and game experience.
● Someone with the logical thinking skills to engage in discussions on an equal footing with those in Data Science, Product, and LiveOps.
● Someone who enjoys change and continues to search for new optimal solutions.
