Our mission is to deliver high-quality insights, maintain strong compliance with U.S. GAAP, and support Robinhood’s goal of democratizing finance for all.
The Director of Technical Accounting will lead the company’s technical accounting function, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and providing guidance on complex, high impact accounting matters. - Monitor, interpret, and apply new accounting guidance from the FASB, SEC, and other regulatory bodies; assess the impact on the Company’s financial statements and lead the implementation of relevant changes.
- Support M&A transactions, including accounting due diligence, purchase price allocation (PPA), integration of acquired entities, and preparation of required SEC filings such as pro forma financial information and disclosures.
- Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors on complex transactions and technical matters, fostering a transparent and collaborative relationship.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of Company-wide accounting policies, including updates to existing policies and drafting of new policies in response to evolving business needs and accounting standards.
- Lead or support cross-functional strategic initiatives and special projects, including product launches, new revenue models, or structural reorganizations, ensuring accounting impacts are proactively addressed.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an active CPA (or equivalent) and 10+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or technical accounting, with strong exposure to SEC reporting and complex accounting matters.
- Strong preference for experience in broker-dealer, fintech, or high-growth tech environments.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, with a proven ability to interpret and apply evolving standards and regulatory guidance across diverse topics.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across Accounting, Legal, Finance, and Product teams.
- Strategic, solutions-oriented thinker who thrives in fast-paced settings, with a bias for action, strong communication skills, and high attention to detail.
