Summary

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer - Core Services to help build the core infrastructure that powers the Oasis Network. In this role, you will design and implement backend services, APIs, and developer-facing tools that support both internal teams and our broader ecosystem. You’ll work on large-scale data processing, blockchain indexing, and contribute to the reliability and performance of mission-critical systems. This is a hands-on engineering role that offers deep ownership and the opportunity to shape the technical foundations of a growing Web3 platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Core Backend Development - Design, build, and maintain backend services that support developers, users, and other Oasis infrastructure. Build scalable APIs and applications around Oasis runtimes.
2. Data & Indexing Systems - Work with SQL databases, handling large-scale datasets such as blockchain indexing and analytics. Optimize performance through indexing strategies, tuning, and efficient data models.
3. Deployment & Infrastructure - Develop and deploy services into production environments using containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. Contribute to DevOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines as needed.
4. Open Source Collaboration & Reviews - Collaborate with other contributors and the broader open-source community through pull requests, code reviews, and technical discussions.
5. Internal Tooling & Engineering Practices - Help improve team workflows, internal tooling, and engineering culture.Advocate for best practices across the engineering org.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with product, BD, and ecosystem teams to support integration with partners and community tools.

What We’re Looking For

1. Strong experience writing production-quality backend systems on blockchain/web3/privacy projects.
2. Proficiency in working with SQL databases, including knowledge of indexing, performance tuning, and schema migrations.
3. Experience in designing and deploying scalable backend services, with a solid understanding of containers (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
4. A generalist mindset — you’re comfortable jumping between systems, from infrastructure to application-level logic.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving priorities.

Nice to Have

1. Prior experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
2. Production experience using Go language. 
3. Understanding of blockchain runtimes or privacy-preserving technologies such as TEE’s.
4. Familiarity with distributed systems and consensus mechanisms.
5. Familiarity with Ethereum, Solidity, and EVM-based ecosystems.
6. Experience with blockchain data indexing (especially on Ethereum or similar chains).
